Blues Central is back on Sunday 9 August and this month we’ve got a lineup that’s pure South West blues at its best.
The Recliners have been quietly building into one of the most enjoyable bands in the club — long-time members who’ve put in the time and they really shine. They kick things off from 1pm.
Desert Road bring something different — a powerful, commanding presence up front and a band that knows exactly how to hold a room. If you haven’t seen them before, August is the month to fix that.

Saturday 1 August. Gull and Anchor on the Bunbury Waterfront. The South West Blues Club turns twenty and we’re celebrating it properly — with a 3-course formal dinner, door prizes and later in the evening, live music from Howling Onshore to close the night out in style.
That means you. Whether you’ve been in the crowd, on the stage, behind the scenes or just someone who loves live music in this town — this invite is open. No membership required. Just come.
It’s a night to sit down, eat well, catch up with old friends, meet some new ones and raise a glass to twenty years of keeping the blues alive in Bunbury.

We know some of you have been waiting on news, and we’re thrilled to be able to tell you — the South West Blues Club 20th Anniversary Dinner is going ahead, at the Gull and Anchor right here in Bunbury.
To everyone who bought a ticket, spread the word, shared the posts and tagged their friends — thank you. Your support is exactly why this night is happening.
Same night. Same food. Same great company. New venue.
This is our 20th Anniversary Dinner, and we want everyone there. Current members, past members, partners, bandmates, fans, supporters, people who’ve shared a stage with us, people who’ve just shared a beer with us. If the South West Blues Club has ever meant something to you, this night is for you.
It’s a formal dinner — but let’s be honest, we’re musicians. Formal around here means whatever you want it to mean. Black tie? Absolutely. Best jeans and Converse? You’re in. Leather jacket as your best jacket? We’d expect nothing less. Channel your inner Jake and Elwood. Rock the Murph and the Magic Tones look. Come as you are — just come dressed like the occasion matters, because it does.

This is a night to put the instruments down, sit across from the people who’ve made this club what it is, and just enjoy each other’s company. Twenty years is worth celebrating properly. We hope to see you there.
This one’s a step up, Bunbury. Blues Central returns to Froth Craft Brewery on Sunday 12 July, and we’ve got a lineup that’s bringing some serious pedigree to our stage.
Headlining are Art of Dysfunction — a Perth blues-rock outfit who’ve cut their teeth alongside the likes of Electric Mary and The Radiators, taken their sound on a European tour supporting blues icon Michael Vdelli, and have since become his rhythm section. These guys play festivals like Ravenswood Blues & Roots and Bridgetown Blues — and now they’re playing for us. Expect tight grooves, soaring guitar, and a live show that doesn’t let up.
Joining them are Something Else, a band with serious history. Formed in Kalgoorlie back in 1987, they built their name touring the Goldfields and beyond — from minesites to capital cities, all over WA and the NT. The lineup has racked up decades on the Australian circuit, including stints in bands like The Prefects, Orphans and the Teddy Bears, plus a deep-rooted love of the blues that runs through everything they play. This is a band that’s been doing it properly for almost forty years.
Free entry. Great food. Cold beers. This is the kind of afternoon you tell people about afterwards.
Our ears are still ringing from Blues Central this afternoon, and we’re already looking ahead to next Sunday because the June Jam Session is coming up fast and we want YOU in the room.
Whether you’ve been playing for decades or you’ve been quietly thinking about stepping up to a microphone for the first time, this is your afternoon. Bring your instrument, bring a mate, or just come and relax — a good time is guaranteed for all.

This Sunday at Froth – it’s Blues Central time! Whether you’re a club member or just love great live music, come down to Froth Craft Brewery on Victoria St for a free afternoon of pure blues goodness.
Dave Tiger and the Cubs open the show – Dave’s a Liverpool lad who grew up on British Blues royalty (Clapton, Beck, Mayall – the lot), and he’s brought a tight band with him: Dana on drums, the brilliant Leigh Kelly on bass, and swagger of Gary Palfrey’s sax. Expect licks that go all the way back to the golden era.
Following them, Micho Lupo close out the afternoon with something you won’t forget. Vocalist Marisa and guitarist Mark De Vattimo have a musical chemistry that just works, and with Sandy, Cody, Joel and the latest addition to the lineup, Jack behind them, this six-piece swings from smoky cool ballads to high-voltage riffs without missing a beat. Pure feel-it-in-your-bones blues rock.

Co-curated by the South West Blues Club, this display tells the story of the ‘home of the Blues in Bunbury’ and celebrates the club over the past two decades.
This is the first project in the Museum’s brand-new community display platform.
